General Council on Finance and Administration Hosts Successful Quadrennial Training

Houston, Texas – The General Council on Finance and Administration (GCFA) announces the successful completion of its quadrennial training event held from February 4th to 7th in Houston, Texas. The event saw an impressive turnout, with nearly 380 attendees participating onsite.

GCFA was deeply honored to have Bishop Cynthia Fierro Harvey, Bishop Thomas J. Bickerton, Bishop David Graves, and Bishop Tracy Smith Malone lead attendees in powerful devotions. Their leadership provided a reflective and inspiring foundation for the event, enriching the experience for all participants.

The training featured four plenary sessions led by distinguished speakers, including Megan Alexander, Rev. Giovanni Arroyo, Bishop Julius C. Trimble, and Rev. Rob Fuquay. Each session offered valuable insights and practical guidance.

One particularly impactful session, "LEADing on Immigration," was presented by the General Commission on Religion and Race alongside the General Board of Church and Society. This session exemplified the Connection in action, addressing a critical issue facing faith communities today.

This event was made possible in part by the generous support of our sponsors, whose contributions helped create a comprehensive and enriching experience for all participants. We were honored to have Wesleyan Impact Partners as our Gold sponsor, with Educational Opportunities and Interfaith Federal Credit Union partnering with us as Silver sponsors. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our sponsors for their commitment to equipping and empowering church leaders through this important training.

The training catered to professionals across 12 different job roles, including annual conference communicators, treasurers, statisticians, and the chairs of Councils on Finance and Administration, Equitable Compensation, and Trustees. This diverse group of attendees benefited from targeted sessions tailored to their unique responsibilities and challenges.

For those who were unable to attend the onsite event, GCFA is pleased to announce that a virtual quadrennial training event will be held later this year. Interested individuals can sign up to be notified of the virtual event details as they become available by visiting www.gcfa.org/quad-training.
