United Methodist Insurance and AmVenture Work to Improve Service to UMI Insureds

Nashville, TN – United Methodist Insurance (UMI) and its partner, AmVenture Insurance Agency, Inc. (AmVenture), are working together to provide more competitive pricing and enhanced coverage for United Methodist churches and other related properties. Unfortunately, those UMI clients with renewal dates in January 2019 were not given much time to take actions necessary to implement their new policies. Because of this, we have received a number of questions, and some properties have been forced to seek other insurance coverage.
Moses Kumar, chief executive of the General Council on Finance and Administration (GCFA), said, “We acknowledge there have been issues. We apologize and are working diligently to find solutions, both to the issues around competitive quotations and timing. We have confidence that working together, UMI and AmVenture will provide solutions that will work to the benefit of the UMC connection. The Board of GCFA will continue to be diligent in monitoring the situation and doing what reasonably can be done to ensure success in providing a program of insurance to the UMC connection in the United States, as we are currently tasked to do in the Book of Discipline.”
Sam Liotta, President and Founder of AmVenture, said, “We are actively seeking ways to correct any problems created by the coverage quotes received by churches insured with UMI. We apologize for the timing and communications shared for January renewals. The comments and input we have received have been important in helping us find solutions that work. We take customer service seriously and are reviewing all the ways AmVenture interacts with current and future customers of the United Methodist Insurance Program.”
AmVenture and UMI will be connecting with carriers in coming months to find partner insurers that will offer competitive pricing, assure there is a clear understanding of next steps, listen to concerns about coverage, and develop processes that benefit the properties.
